How to use it

  1. Enter the address that should receive the email. Several addresses can be separated with commas.
  2. Add a subject so you can recognise these emails in your inbox — for example “Quote request – poster”.
  3. Optionally write the start of the message. The sender can still edit everything.
  4. Scan to test with your own mail app, then download.

How email codes work

The code holds a standard mailto: link (defined in RFC 6068). Every phone hands it to the default mail app — Mail, Gmail, Outlook — which opens a draft. Nothing is sent until the person presses send.

Example: quote request

Spaces, accents and punctuation in the subject and message are percent-encoded so every mail app reads them the same way.

Encoded content

mailto:hello@example.com?subject=Quote%20request&body=Hi%2C%20I%20saw%20your%20poster%20and%20would%20like%20a%20quote.

Good uses for email codes

  • “Request a quote” on vans, posters and trade-show stands, with the source in the subject line.
  • Support or returns instructions printed on packaging.
  • Feedback cards in hotels or classrooms.
  • Signing up to a newsletter by email (“Subscribe me”).

A note about spam

An address printed in a code is as public as one printed in text. Use a shared inbox (info@, hello@) rather than a personal address, and a mail service with good spam filtering. If you prefer a web form, link to it with the link generator.

Tips

  • Put the source in the subject (“– flyer”, “– stand B12”) to see which placement works.
  • Keep the body short; it makes the code denser.
  • Say “Email us” next to the code so people know a draft will open.

Questions

Does the email send automatically?

No. The code opens a draft; the person must tap send.

Which mail apps are supported?

Any app registered for mailto links: Apple Mail, Gmail, Outlook, Samsung Email and others.

Can I add CC or BCC?

Add several recipients separated by commas. CC and BCC fields aren’t offered because some mail apps ignore them.
